Begin of Procurements

The first procurement for the ZIMCast Project have started. The contract for the antenna procurement have been signed and the delivery is expected begin of May.

The antenna will be a mesh antenna similar to the antenna installed at the Environmental Management Agency (EMA) as shown in the picture below.

The antenna will be funded by HESCF, the GZU will be in charge of procuring a pole and a fence around the antenna for protection.

The procurement of the computer hardware is now under evaluation with a planned delivery mid of May. An EUMETSAT Key Unit (EKU) is already purchased and will be sent soon to the GZU together with some HE Space Children Foundation Stickers to be placed on the equipment.

The next steps will be the identification of the antenna site and the signature of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between HESCF, MESA-SADC-THEMA and GZU. An MoU does not imply a legal commitment. It expresses a convergence of will between the parties, indicating an intended common line of action.
